Road Rides

Join us for a road ride every Sunday. Distances around 40/60 miles (weather permitting) through some great scenery in Hertfordshire then head back to the shop for around lunchtime. We generally average speeds of around 15-17mph.

You will need to make sure that you have a fully road worthy bike, ideally you should bring with you a pump, puncture repair kit and spare inner tubes, and some money if we stop for a coffee. Please make sure that you wear adequate clothing, remember items like your helmet, gloves, a coat and overshoes if appropriate. Several thin layers usually prove most effective and allow easy adjustment.

We meet at the shop 07:00 in the Summer months and 08:00 / 09:00 Autumn / Winter months — times may vary, so please join the WhatsApp group (below) to get up to date information.

Please Note

The Wednesday night off road ride is back on! – Please check back for more information, or contact the shop to express your interest.

Wednesday night is ride night! Come meet us down at the shop and join us for a woodland adventure. Typically out for a couple of hours sometimes less, average of around 10mph (in the winter months) Please note this is an off road ride therefore a basic level of skill will be required, if you’re unsure please don’t hesitate to ask.

You will need to make sure that you have a worthy machine and adequate safety gear. Among other things this includes a helmet and during the winter a decent set of lights!! Ideally you should bring with you a pump, puncture repair kit and spare inner tubes, and some money for hard earned refreshments.

“These weekly rides give me just the motivation I need to get out get my exercise in. I’ve made quite a few new acquaintances on these rides too.”

Harpenden Leisure Cyclists

All welcome, usually meeting at the shop before a leisurely ride though the local countryside. A stop half way at a local cafe or pub is common and the pace is set by the slowest ride so nobody is left behind. The route is varied sometimes on track & trail, sometimes on quiet lanes. The rides vary in distance depending on enthusiasm and weather. Please join the Facebook group for more information.
